Good evening to all Formula1.it readers. The final practice session has given us a very intriguing picture ahead of qualifying: 10 drivers covered by around half a second. If that gap is confirmed, it would be a real triumph for Formula 1.
The technology may not appeal to everyone, and qualifying is certainly not as interesting as it was in 2025, but this year, in just a few months, we have already reached an incredible level of convergence for what is only the first season under a new set of technical regulations. The top teams have done an incredible job, and VCARB also deserve credit for what they have achieved. Shortly, if Q3 confirms the outcome of FP3, we could witness one of the most exciting qualifying sessions of the entire season.
Before we begin our qualifying commentary, let us take a look at the Pirelli compounds for the Mexico City GP: Hard C3, Medium C4 and Soft C5 will be available, the softest combination in the range (image: Pirelli graphic).

The pit lane opens at 22:00 Italian time. Live coverage begins at 21:45.
