Historical information

Bahrain is not only home to pre-season testing, in fact, the race has been part of the F1 calendar since 2004. The GP was missed only in the 2011 edition due to the Arab Spring. The first victory was taken by Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari.

The most successful driver in Bahrain is Lewis Hamilton, with 5 wins, followed by Vettel with 4. It is one of the Grand Prix with the most overtaking and is often associated with some unpleasant memories: from the broken engine with a few laps to go on Leclerc's Ferrari in 2019, to the bloodiest moment in recent years in F1 history: the crash of Romain Grosjean. Shortly after the start of the race, the Frenchman due to contact crashes into the guardrail, causing the single-seater to break into two parts with flames soon enveloping the entire part where the driver was. Miraculously, the Frenchman emerges unharmed with only some burns on his hands. His accident thus becomes part of the most dangerous moments of the last decade of F1.
