38Biography of F1 driver Verstappen Max
Website: www.verstappen.nl
Max Verstappen was born on 30 September 1997 in Hasselt, Belgium, into a family entirely devoted to motorsport. Raised between kart tracks and European circuits, he developed from a very young age an aggressive and instinctive driving style, combined with technical preparation far beyond his years.
After an outstanding karting career filled with international titles, he made his single-seater debut in 2014 in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship with Van Amersfoort Racing. He finished the season with ten victories and numerous podiums, immediately establishing himself as one of the most exciting prospects of his generation and attracting the attention of the Red Bull junior programme.
In 2015 he stepped straight into Formula 1 with Toro Rosso, becoming the youngest debutant in the history of the category. His rookie season featured solid performances, spectacular overtakes and a level of racecraft that belied his age, convincing Red Bull to promote him to the senior team already in 2016.
His Red Bull Racing debut came at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, which he won, becoming the youngest winner of a Formula 1 Grand Prix. From that moment Verstappen became the cornerstone of the Milton Keynes team’s technical project, playing a key role in car development during periods of regulatory transition and consolidating his leadership status.
Between 2017 and 2020 he collected victories, pole positions and podiums, occasionally paying the price for a limit-pushing approach. The definitive breakthrough came in 2021, when he claimed his first World Championship after an intensely contested season. This was followed by a cycle of technical and sporting dominance that saw him win the Drivers’ World Championship consecutively in 2022, 2023 and 2024, setting numerous records including the highest number of wins in a single season and an extraordinary streak of consecutive victories.
Throughout his career Verstappen has become inseparably linked with Red Bull, emerging as the team’s absolute reference and one of the most successful drivers in recent Formula 1 history. His driving style, based on front-end control, braking precision and corner-entry management, has often been used as a benchmark in car development.
Among various curiosities, he is known for his meticulous simulator work, his direct approach with engineers and his habit of personally analysing large quantities of data. He is also a keen enthusiast of virtual endurance racing and online competitions, which he integrates into his training.
Off the track he leads a reserved life, divided between the Principality of Monaco and frequent racing commitments. Looking ahead, Verstappen remains at the centre of the Red Bull project: in 2026 he will still be a leading figure in the Formula 1 paddock, involved in the development of the team’s new-generation cars and power units.
