Good evening to all Formula1.it readers. Mexican FP1 was largely shaped by rookie running. Only Ferrari completed the first hour of track action with its regular driver line-up. Every other team instead had academy drivers at the wheel, giving them the opportunity to rack up mileage and work towards obtaining a super licence.
Ferrari appear to have started the weekend strongly, although that is no longer a surprise on a Friday. The Maranello team needs to prove it can be competitive in every session, showing a little more consistency. Antonelli has been unwell in recent days, but still managed to take part in FP1 and set the second-fastest time. The championship leader could secure the title here in Mexico and has no intention of handing victory to his rivals. Kimi only needs to finish ninth, or could even win the championship with a retirement if neither Russell nor Hamilton wins the race.
Before we begin commenting on FP2, let us take a look at the Pirelli tyre allocation for the Mexico City GP: the Hard C3, Medium C4 and Soft C5 compounds will be available, the softest combination in the range (photo: Pirelli graphic).

Pit lane opens: 23:00 Italian time. Live coverage from 22:45.
