By: Good evening to all our Formula1.it readers. The cars are ready to take to the track in Texas. The COTA presents plenty of challenges but, if yesterday is anything to go by, at least the top teams appear to be in a fairly similar position. At least... that was the case yesterday. Leclerc topped both FP1 and FP2, but we know how little that counts on a Friday. Finishing at the front again in today’s FP3 would already give us a few more clues about Ferrari’s potential.
Behind Leclerc, we saw a very promising Norris on the Hard tyre (read here), with Verstappen and Antonelli ready to match the race pace of the number 16 Ferrari. The Prancing Horse has brought a substantial upgrade package to test at COTA, while Mercedes is still carrying out its analysis of what it introduced at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. There is still work to do before qualifying, and the pecking order could change.
Before we begin our live coverage of FP3, let us take a look at Pirelli’s tyre allocation for the United States GP: the Hard C2, Medium C3 and Soft C4 compounds will be available, the middle combination in the range (photo: Pirelli graphic).
