Another qualifying session, another starting grid. Today, the Mercedes team worked hard to give Antonelli a chance to fight for pole position. Their efforts paid off: Kimi was consistently quicker than George Russell, but ultimately could only qualify fourth behind Verstappen, Leclerc and Hamilton. The fact that Antonelli managed to beat his team-mate, who it should be remembered had no motivation to deliver a strong qualifying performance, points to an improvement. However, there is still more to understand about the major upgrade package introduced in Bahrain.
Max claimed a superb pole position, beating the two Ferraris of Leclerc and Hamilton. The Monegasque did not have a good session, but a late flourish allowed him to take P2, even to his own surprise. Together with team-mate Lewis, he will be able to take on Verstappen two against one tomorrow and seek revenge. All while keeping an eye on the mirrors: Antonelli is certainly not an opponent to be overlooked.
Singapore GP starting grid – formation lap at 14:00 Italian time
The FIA investigated only Hulkenberg's impeding of Sainz and, once again, decided to let the German off. With that established, we can provide you with the provisional starting order for the Singapore GP. The formation lap is at 14:00 Italian time on Sunday 11 October.

Why are we calling it a provisional grid? Because the teams' technicians could still encounter issues with the cars before tomorrow's race and, should a component subject to regulatory restrictions need to be replaced, the Federation would be forced to demote the driver concerned by several places on the grid.
