The Australian GP weekend has begun and finally, after a long winter break, Formula One is back. This morning, in Melbourne, the first free practice sessions of the 2025 season began, which, in fact, will experience its first act only when the five red lights go out on Sunday morning. A new championship that, even before its start, already has a single leitmotif: Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari. A great coup for the Circus, which has united the most successful driver and team in history, unleashing a media hype never seen before and making the dreams of fans come true. Not only that, because this union of legends has also made the dreams of Lewis himself come true, who had never hidden his desire to wear red and who soon understood what it means to wear the red overalls, repeatedly showing his joy for this step in his career and great positivity towards a future that is now present.
It's time for the debut
During the press conference that preceded the Australian Grand Prix, in Melbourne, the seven-time world champion spoke to the media about his approach to the new experience of his long and successful career, saying he was ready, motivated and certainly not worried about the inevitable pressure for Ferrari drivers. A calmness born from his mentality, prestige and experience, but also from the team's work aimed at not making him feel the weight of this historic step for F1, thus helping him to concentrate and work hard, also chasing away the pressures born from a possible gap that, at least in the first races, it is possible that the seven-time world champion will accuse from his teammate Charles Leclerc: normal but that, given the name in play, will unleash an endless succession of rumours.
Vasseur talks
And about Lewis Hamilton's first laps in a race weekend as a Ferrari driver, the Scuderia's team principal, Fréd Vasseur, spoke to the microphones of Sky Sport F1, underlining once again how it is not necessary to draw immediate conclusions but to give the team and the driver time to find the right balance.
"We must avoid drawing conclusions after just a few laps. Lewis found traffic this morning, the important thing will be to adapt the car and we will have to work on this".
Speaking instead of the SF-25, the Frenchman said he was happy with the balance of the car, the data collected and the work done by the technicians in defining the set-up.
"The sensations are good. We need to be careful, Melbourne is particular, the grip will increase a lot. We will always have to think about the next session and not adapt the car. The car is balanced and the work was good".
