Sebastien Olivier Buemi was born on 31 October 1988 in Aigle, Switzerland. After his karting background, he emerged in the European junior formulae and joined the Red Bull junior programme.
His Formula 1 debut came in 2009 with Toro Rosso, the team with which he competed for three full seasons until 2011. During a period of technical transition for the Faenza-based squad, Buemi achieved several points finishes, standing out for reliability and overall consistency.
After concluding his Formula 1 experience, he built a career of the highest level in electric and endurance racing. In Formula E he won two world titles (2015-16 and 2016-17), becoming one of the category’s emblematic drivers. In parallel, he became a leading figure in the World Endurance Championship with Toyota, winning multiple world titles and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Thanks to his ability to excel in very different technical contexts, Buemi is regarded as one of the most complete and successful drivers of his generation, with a career largely built away from Formula 1 but at the very highest level of international motorsport.
