Biography of F1 driver Webber Mark

Website: www.markwebber.com - Wikipedia page

Mark Webber, born on 27 August 1976 in Queanbeyan (New South Wales, Australia), is a former Australian racing driver who built his reputation in Formula 1 and later in top-level endurance racing.

After extensive training in Australian karting, Webber moved to Europe in the late 1990s to pursue a career in single-seaters. In 1996 he competed in British Formula Ford, while in 1997 he achieved notable results in Formula Renault, establishing himself as one of the most promising junior prospects. The major breakthrough came in 2000, when he won the Formula 3000 Championship with the Super Nova team, securing the title at the final round and attracting the attention of Formula 1 teams.

His Formula 1 debut came in 2002 with Minardi at the Australian Grand Prix, where he surprised by finishing fifth on debut. After two seasons with the Faenza-based team, he joined the Jaguar programme in 2003 and remained there through 2004, contributing to car development during a challenging period for the British outfit.

In 2005 Webber moved to Williams, staying for two seasons. During this period he scored several points finishes and his first Formula 1 podium, demonstrating consistency and strong race management despite not having a car capable of regularly fighting for victories.

The central phase of his career began in 2007 with his move to Red Bull Racing, then an emerging team. Webber raced for the Milton Keynes squad until 2013, enjoying the most competitive era of his career. He achieved nine Formula 1 victories, numerous podiums and pole positions, and made a significant contribution to the team’s Constructors’ World Championships. In 2010 he was involved in the Drivers’ Championship fight until the final races, finishing the season third overall.

After retiring from Formula 1 at the end of 2013, Webber continued competing in endurance racing with Porsche. Between 2014 and 2016 he took part in the World Endurance Championship in the LMP1 class, scoring race victories and finishing second in the Drivers’ Championship in 2015. That same year he also secured overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the most prestigious achievements of his career.

After stepping away from professional driving, Webber remained connected to motorsport in representative and advisory roles. According to available official information, his most recent verified role involves working as an ambassador and consultant for Porsche Motorsport, a position he has maintained in the years following his retirement.

Away from the track, Webber is known for his support of young drivers and for his work as a television commentator and analyst. He lives between Australia and Europe and has often emphasised his connection to his roots, while keeping his private life largely out of the public eye.
