By: The third and final free practice session has concluded, giving the teams the chance to fine-tune the final details ahead of this evening's qualifying. Here are the key moments from the session.
Green light
The session got under way at 19:30 Italian time, but the circuit was virtually empty in the opening minutes as far as the top teams were concerned. Perez and Colapinto were the only drivers to head out immediately, at the wheel of the Cadillac and Alpine respectively, while the front-runners chose to wait.
It was not until the final 40 minutes that the first driver from a top team appeared on track. Lewis Hamilton was the first to emerge, setting the session's first meaningful benchmark with a 1:36.716 to move provisionally to the top. The Ferrari of the number 44 also featured the distinctive green flow-vis paint used to analyse aerodynamic airflow.
As the minutes passed, the track became busier and the first representative lap times began to arrive. Verstappen, Norris and Hamilton traded places at the top of the timesheets, while Leclerc and Norris made the same mistake at Turn 12, with both having their laps deleted.
However, the pair immediately returned to the attack. Leclerc moved to the top on the yellow-compound tyre, while Norris, on the red compound, placed himself among the front-runners in third.
Meanwhile, Antonelli returned to the pits to address a number of issues he had reported to Bono over the radio. Once back on track, the Mercedes driver appeared to find performance immediately, posting an excellent 1:35.015. However, the lap was deleted shortly afterwards after he exceeded track limits at Turn 9.
Piastri, Hamilton and Verstappen also went for fresh runs in the closing stages. The Australian climbed to sixth, while Hamilton and Verstappen took first and second respectively, bringing to a close a third practice session that appeared to provide the final important indications ahead of qualifying.
