Italian GP at Monza: the complete guide for Tifosi

The most eagerly anticipated week for Tifosi is finally almost here. Formula 1 is ready to arrive at Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, and the Temple of Speed is putting the finishing touches to its preparations to welcome the red tide and all the fans heading to the circuit to experience one of the most eagerly awaited events on the entire calendar.

For the occasion, we at Formula1.it have put together this guide with useful advice on how to get to the circuit and everything you may need over the race weekend.

How to get to Monza circuit

By car

Over the Grand Prix weekend, normal vehicle traffic will be heavily altered, particularly in the vicinity of the venue. Nevertheless, it will still be possible to reach the circuit using your own transport, including cars and motorcycles.

Those travelling from Milan can follow two specific routes:

Viale Zara: V.le Fulvio Testi, V.le Brianza, V.le Lombardia, Rondò dei Pini, Villa Reale, then enter the park via Porta Vedano or Porta Santa Maria alle Selve (pedestrians and service personnel only).

Piazzale Loreto: Viale Monza, Sesto San Giovanni, V.le Casiraghi, V.le Brianza, then follow the Milan Viale Zara route.

If arriving from Turin, follow this route: A4 Turin-Milan motorway, then take the Milan-Venice motorway to the Cinisello Balsamo-Sesto San Giovanni-Milan Viale Zara exit, then follow the Milan route.

From Como or Varese: take the A9 motorway to Saronno, then the SS 527 to Rondò dei Pini, before following the Milan route; alternatively, travel via Bovisio Masciago to Desio for Porta Biassono or Porta Vedano.

From Lecco: take the SS 36 road to Rondò dei Pini, then follow the Milan route.

From Genoa: take the A7 motorway to Milan, then the western ring road towards Venice and the eastern ring road. After the toll barrier:

• exit no. 16, towards Monza;

• exit no. 20 Vimercate, towards Villasanta.

From Florence or Bologna: take the A1 motorway to Milan, then the eastern ring road towards Venice, then follow the Genoa route.

The final route available, for those arriving from Brenner or Venice: take the A4 motorway to the Agrate exit, then the SP 13 towards Monza or Concorezzo, entering via Porta Villasanta, or towards Vimercate, entering via Porta S. Giorgio or Porta Lesmo.

By train

For the occasion, it will also be possible to reach Monza's Temple of Speed by public transport, specifically by train.

Monza station is located on Via Caduti del Lavoro and is the main railway hub in the Brianza area. It lies on the Milan-Chiasso line, served by the S8, S9 and S11 suburban railway lines, and is the terminus for lines to Lecco and Molteno. The station is around 6.6 km from the circuit, which can be reached by bus or on foot.

The city of Monza is not served by the metro, but it is possible to take Milan Metro Line 1, alight at Sesto 1° Maggio FS, and take the Z221 bus from there, which stops in Monza.

Trenord has also announced that it will run special trains over the Italian GP weekend, enabling all Tifosi to reach the circuit.

Special trains from Milan Porta Garibaldi to Biassono-Lesmo will operate on Sunday 6 September (subject to availability).

There will also be a combined return train service from Milan to Monza FS, continuing by shuttle on the Black Line to the Autodromo (Gate G).

The service is available with the special “GP Monza Train + Black Shuttle to the Autodromo” ticket, costing €10. It includes a return train journey from any station in Milan to Monza FS and a shuttle bus transfer (Black Line) from Monza FS to Gate G at the Autodromo. The Black Shuttle departs from the forecourt outside the station, at the exit from platform 7.

The GP Monza Trenord Day Pass will also be available to purchase, a return ticket valid from across Lombardy to all Monza stations, which can be used on all three days of the event. Children under 14 travel free when accompanied by an adult.

Trenord regional services between Milan and Monza can be purchased via the Trenitalia App or the Trenord website.

Access gates

Once you have arrived outside the circuit, you will then need to enter the venue. As always during an F1 weekend, many access points are closed to ticket-holders and reserved for those with special passes, which cannot be purchased. It is therefore important to choose the correct entrance gate for your chosen grandstand.

As stated on the official website of the Monza sporting venue, monzanet.it, the following entrances are recommended to facilitate access:

For those with seats in grandstands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 35A, 35B and 35C, the recommended entrance is Gate A/B – Vedano.

If you have a ticket for grandstands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 16, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 32 Circolare Prato, you should enter through Gate B – Santa Maria.

For grandstands 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 16, 32 and Circolare Prato, use Gate C – Costa Bassa.

We recommend using Gate D – Lesmo for grandstands 6, 9, 10, 10Bis, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 32, 33A, 33B, 34 and Circolare Prato.

The final entrance is Gate G – Mirabello, which should be used to reach grandstands 9, 10, 10Bis, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17A, 17B, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 33A, 33B, Gradinate Interno Parabolica and Circolare Prato.
