New year, new rules, new title. ‘Beware the gap’ is the heir to our old ‘Performance Check’. For the new season we thought we'd rewatch it a bit and give it a new look. Last year, if you recall, the column became important as events unfolded. Difficult for us to handle and consequently also to read for you.
‘Beware the gap’ was born with the aim of restoring the distance of each team from the leader. The idea was born to create a simple relation between teams, taking qualifying performances and making them vary from race to race. We later thought about extending the idea to pilots as well. Hence two different images to give you the exact photograph of what happened in qualifying.
Team Comparison - Australia Qualifiers 2026
Being the first race of the world championship, we limit ourselves exclusively to explaining to you how it works. We put the teams in last season's order. This way you can see from race to race how the values on the field will change compared to both the previous GP and the past world championship.

Drivers' Comparison - Australia Qualifiers 2026
We will do the same with the drivers. The drivers are arranged in pairs in the same order as the stables. The name listed below (in this case Verstappen, Sainz and Stroll) did not run travel times due to technical problems/accidents.

You may already have a surprise from China, but obviously we don't want to ruin everything for you.
