The Las Vegas rain instantly erased everything Ferrari had shown on the dry. And Charles Leclerc, ninth after yet another difficult wet qualifying, let slip a frustration he rarely shows publicly.
“We’ve tried everything. We’ve had this problem for seven years,” he admitted openly. “In the junior categories the wet was one of my biggest strengths, but since I’ve been in Formula 1 I’ve never found the feeling again. Every time we try something different, but nothing works. Whenever there’s rain, we already know what to expect.”
His final attempt confirmed it: “Even without the mistake I wouldn’t have improved. I was still a tenth slower than my previous lap. When I see the gap… it’s hard to understand.”
Heavy words at a tense moment for Ferrari, where talent alone is no longer enough — it takes everyone’s work. Today the car wasn’t there, the grip wasn’t there, and above all the feeling Leclerc has been searching for over seven long years simply wasn’t there. And once again, in the rain, it didn’t show up.
