Biography of F1 driver Sutil Adrian

Adrian Sutil (born on 11 January 1983 in Starnberg, Germany) is a former German Formula 1 driver, active in the top category between 2007 and 2014.

After karting and a solid progression through the junior formulae, he came to prominence by winning the 2006 Japanese Formula 3 Championship. The result opened the door to Formula 1 with Spyker in 2007, a team that later became Force India.

With Force India he enjoyed the best seasons of his career, standing out for solid qualifying and race performances. His best result remains fourth place at the 2009 Italian Grand Prix, achieved with a car well suited to high-speed circuits. In 2011 he also finished ninth in the Drivers’ Championship.

After a return with Force India in 2013, he came back to Formula 1 in 2014 with Sauber, in a difficult season for the Swiss team. At the end of the year he left the category permanently, without further Formula 1 engagements.

Following his Formula 1 career, Sutil progressively stepped away from professional motorsport. His last significant competitive role remains Formula 1, while in subsequent years he has maintained a very reserved public profile, away from the paddock and top-level competition.
