Biography of F1 driver Speed Scott

Website: www.scottspeed.com

Scott Speed (born on 24 January 1983 in Manteca, California, United States) is an American racing driver, best known as the first American to compete in Formula 1 after several years without US representation in the top category.

After karting and European junior formulae, he came to prominence by winning the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup championship in 2004. He then joined the Red Bull junior programme, which supported him through to his Formula 1 debut.

He made his Formula 1 debut in 2006 with Toro Rosso, contesting two full seasons (2006 and 2007) in a technically limited environment marked by adaptation difficulties and internal team tensions. He did not score championship points and left Formula 1 before the end of the 2007 season.

After leaving Formula 1, Speed returned to the United States and relaunched his career in closed-wheel racing, finding success in rallycross. He became one of the leading figures in the Global Rallycross Championship, winning the 2015 title and establishing himself as a reference driver in the discipline.

Later in his career he also competed in IMSA and other American series, maintaining an active profile in motorsport. His trajectory remains a unique case in the Formula 1 landscape: a brief European career followed by a successful return to US-based racing.
