Kiesa Nicolas(Denmark, 03/03/1978)

Nicolas Kiesa (born on 3 March 1978 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a former Danish racing driver who had a brief Formula 1 career in the early 2000s, following a path built mainly through European junior formulae.

After starting in karting in the mid-1990s, Kiesa moved to single-seaters in 1997, competing in Danish and German Formula Ford. In 1998 he entered British Formula 3, remaining in the category the following season, gaining experience without achieving major headline results. His career continued in International Formula 3000 in 2000 and 2001: first with Nordic Racing and then with the Red Bull Junior Team, with a best result of fourth place at Budapest.

In 2002 Kiesa remained involved in the Formula 3000 environment, alternating races and testing, before receiving his Formula 1 opportunity in 2003. He was signed by Minardi as a race driver for the final five Grands Prix of the season, replacing Jos Verstappen. His debut came at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, followed by appearances at Indianapolis, Suzuka and Interlagos. In a very difficult technical context, Kiesa finished all the races he contested but did not score championship points.

After his Formula 1 experience, his career continued in endurance racing. From 2004 he took part in various programmes in the Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, racing in LMP2 and GT classes for different private teams. In parallel, he also competed in the Danish touring car championship, gradually winding down his racing activity in the second half of the 2000s.

Among curiosities, Kiesa is one of the few Danish drivers to have competed in a Formula 1 Grand Prix in the modern era, and his Minardi debut came without having completed any official Formula 1 test sessions during that season.

After retiring from competition, Nicolas Kiesa has maintained a very low public profile.
