Biography of F1 driver Albon Alexander

Website: www.alexalbon.com

Alexander Albon was born on 23 March 1996 in London (United Kingdom). An Anglo-Thai driver, he grew up in a family environment very close to motorsport and from childhood developed a structured competitive path, tackling the main European karting championships before moving to single-seaters.

After his first experiences in the junior formulas, Albon stood out in the European Formula 3 Championship, racing in 2015 with Signature and in 2016 with ART Grand Prix, achieving victories and consistent results. In 2017 he moved to the GP3 Series with ART, finishing the championship in third place thanks to several victories and demonstrating a remarkable ability to adapt to very different circuits.

The move to Formula 2 came in 2018 with the DAMS team. The season was solid and consistent: four victories, numerous podiums and third place overall in the championship. Results that allowed him to re-enter the Red Bull orbit, which decided to back him for Formula 1.

In 2019 he made his Formula 1 debut with Toro Rosso. After a convincing first part of the season, characterised by consistent races and mature race management, he was promoted mid-season to Red Bull Racing. With the main team he achieved his first career podiums and competed regularly at the front.

The 2020 and 2021 seasons represented a complex phase: in 2020 he still raced for Red Bull, alternating strong performances with more difficult weekends, while in 2021 he was sidelined from the grid as a reserve and test driver, carrying out intensive simulator and testing work.

His full-time return to Formula 1 came in 2022 with Williams. In a technically challenging context, Albon emerged as the team’s reference point, delivering notable results and demonstrating great effectiveness in tyre management and defensive strategies. This role was consolidated in the following seasons, with performances often exceeding the theoretical potential of the car.

Throughout his career he has stood out for his ability to adapt to very different cars, for a methodical approach in working with engineers and for a clean driving style, particularly effective in the most complex race phases. Among the curiosities, he is known for his strong Thai identity, which he regularly represents during race weekends, and for his commitment to charitable activities linked to youth motorsport.

His race number is 23. This number is half of his first choice, 46, which he would have liked to take but later renounced for marketing reasons, as a tribute to one of his most admired idols: Valentino Rossi.
