88Rio Haryanto (born on 22 January 1993 in Surakarta, Indonesia) is an Indonesian racing driver. After starting in karting in his home country, he moved to Europe at a young age to pursue his career in feeder series, competing in Formula BMW Pacific, European Formula 3 and GP3, without achieving top-level results but building solid international experience.
The most significant moment of his career came in 2016, when he made his Formula 1 debut with Manor Racing, becoming the first Indonesian driver to compete in the World Championship. He contested 12 Grands Prix in the first half of the season, with a best finish of eleventh at the Monaco Grand Prix. Mid-season he lost his seat for financial reasons, following the withdrawal of sponsor support.
After his Formula 1 experience, Haryanto continued racing in Asia and in GT categories, including participation in Japan’s Super GT and various touring car championships. In parallel he took on an institutional role in the development of motorsport in Indonesia, becoming a representative figure linked to national sporting activities.
