Biography of F1 driver Chilton Max

Max Chilton was born on 21 April 1991 in Reigate, Surrey, United Kingdom. Raised in a family deeply connected to motorsport, he entered formula racing at an early age, following a structured and competitive development path.

After early experience in British junior championships, Chilton came to prominence in 2009, when he won the British Formula Ford 2000 Championship with M2 Competition. His progression to higher categories was rapid: in 2010 he debuted in the GP2 Series with Ocean Racing Technology, while the following year he competed in both the GP2 Asia Series and the GP2 Series, achieving consistent results and growing reliability.

The highlight of his junior career came in 2011, when he won the GP2 Asia Series championship with Barwa Addax Team, thanks to a solid and error-free season. In 2012 he contested the GP2 Series with Carlin Motorsport, finishing fourth overall with one victory and several podiums, a result that opened the door to Formula 1.

His Formula 1 debut came in 2013 with Marussia F1 Team. In a technically difficult season for the squad, Chilton stood out for a significant statistic: he was the only driver to be classified in every race of the championship. Retained for 2014, he achieved a best result of 14th place at the Japanese Grand Prix.

After leaving Formula 1, Chilton moved to the United States and began a new phase of his career in the IndyCar Series. He debuted in 2016 with Carlin and continued in 2017, achieving his best American result with fourth place on the Iowa oval.

Beyond top-level competition, Max Chilton has remained active in motorsport through endurance programmes and technical support activities, while maintaining a reserved private profile.
