Kimi Antonelli’s real achievement

Yes, yes, the title 73 years after Ascari; yes, yes, being 20 and coming out on top against Verstappen and Hamilton, but Kimi Antonelli’s real achievement was something else, something truly heroic: drawing so much attention to himself that he distracted us from the mess Ferrari have made, in every possible and imaginable way.

The celebrations continue and fans have no time to dwell on Maranello’s huge blunder, but we would quietly like to point out the following:

Hamilton on pole, with a possible victory within reach, immediately hounded by his team-mate as though he were the only opponent in the world and his worst enemy;

Hamilton responding by risking a collision between two cars from the same team, much like Italy’s centre-left parties when an election approaches; Hamilton again, who in the end, giving the impression of feeling lonelier than Bobby the singer, makes the statements that a Team Principal ought to make; Vasseur who, to put a Ferrari-red cherry on the cake (a crumble, evidently), fires barbed remarks at both drivers rather than attacking Leclerc alone, as the rest of the world would have done.

That is all, while we continue celebrating Kimi’s real achievement—never mind the title.
