If we consider Oscar Piastri's entire 2025 season and try to fragment the path undertaken for images, we would notice that the Australian, now in his third year in F1, has undergone a clear change compared to five races ago. This is evident both in the results and in the way he behaves on the track. Oscar is known for resembling Kimi Raikkonen in his way of distancing himself from emotions, but it seems that after Monza this quality disappeared.
Not even the mistake made in Australia, in his first world championship race, had had similar effects. After the mistake, Oscar got up and just 4 GPs away, in race 5° of the season in Jeddah, he achieved his third annual victory, placing himself as a point of reference for the drivers, at the top of the standings. A position he has never lost since. Even now, after four races of great suffering, he finds himself in the lead with 14 points ahead of Norris and 40 over Verstappen. This is obviously due to the seven victories, three second places and four P3s achieved so far.
Piastri's crisis in a novel version
Unfortunately, however, from Azerbaijan, a race in which he made two serious errors between qualifying and the race (on both occasions on the wall) he entered a dark and cold tunnel from which he can no longer escape. It could be said that the crisis could have started in Baku, but according to the writer we need to return to the previous GP, that of Monza, in which Piastri found himself having to give up his job to Norris due to an error by the mechanics committed in the pits. A very beautiful sporting gesture on the part of the team, but which, if seen and analyzed above all from Piastri's point of view, was a command that could have torn all his awareness.

There would be nothing wrong with finishing the race in second place. Oscar had made his run in Monza. Certainly not the race of his life, but he had done what he had to and for a moment was second behind Verstappen, now flying to victory, and ahead of his teammate Norris. For McLaren, in terms of points brought to the manufacturers, reversing positions would have made no difference. Max was distant.
What if a thought was born in Oscar's mind at that moment? A thought that destroys all the driver's beliefs with the possibility of nullifying all the work done during an entire season? What if Piastri thought, even at this very moment, that he was no longer supported by the team? What if he believed that, despite all his efforts, McLaren would be able to favor Norris at the end of the season?
Monza may have triggered a spark, a seemingly small echo, but uncontrollable to the point of having catastrophic repercussions on the drivers' season. Mistakes like those made in Azerbaijan and at the beginning of the Texas Sprint must have arisen from something. The ice boy couldn't have thawed like this, overnight, for no real reason.
Maybe ours is just a mental film. A novel version of Piastri's crisis. Maybe who knows, depending on how the fight for the world championship ends, Oscar himself will reveal the reasons for this incomprehensible block.
