www.alexalbon.com

Alexander Albon (born 23 March 1996) is a British racing driver of Thai nationality. Debuts in the single-seater in 2012, year in which he joins the Red Bull Junior Team. Competes in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 from 2012 to 2014. In his first year he runs with Epic Racing, finishing 38th and without scoring points. In 2013, after joining the Lotus F1 Junior Team program, he moved to the KTR team of Kurt Mollekens: He got a pole and 22 points, finishing 16th overall. The following year, in 2014, he was confirmed by the same team, and got 3 podiums, 117 points and 3rd place in the championship.

In 2015, the Thai driver moves to European Formula 3 with the French team Signature. He wins 2 pole and 5 podiums, finishing in seventh place in the championship. On 2 December 2015 it was announced that Albon would take part in the GP3 Collective Tests with the ART Grand Prix. In February, the team announced its full-year 2016 season. In his absolute debut in the category he gets a victory in the sprint race of Barcelona. During the championship he wins 3 more (in the feature races of Silverstone and Sepang, and in the sprint race of Budapest), and fights for the championship with Charles Leclerc, finishing second overall.

For the 2017 season, Albon enters Formula 2, again with ART Grand Prix, scoring two podiums at the Red Bull Ring and in Abu Dhabi. Skips the double race in Baku due to health problems. He finishes the championship in tenth place. The following season he stays in the category with DAMS and gets his first victory in the category in race 1 at Baku Circuit. During the season he gets three more victories and finishes third in the championship.

On 26 November 2018, the driver’s appointment for the 2019 Formula 1 season was officially announced in Scuderia Toro Rosso, where he joined Daniil Kvjat to replace New Zealand’s Brendon Hartley. In August of the same year he was announced in Red Bull starting from the Belgian Grand Prix, replacing Pierre Gasly who made the reverse route returning to Toro Rosso. In the new Albon team, the useful results streak started with Toro Rosso, with a fourth place in the Japanese Grand Prix as the best result. 2020 is proving more complicated for Albon, who cannot keep up with Max Verstappen; he will be replaced in 2021 by Sergio Perez, remaining the team’s third driver.

Since 2022 he is official Williams driver; his race number is 23. This number is half of his first choice, the 46, which he wanted to take, but then gave up for marketing reasons, to pay tribute to one of his most popular idols: Valentino Rossi.
