Enrique Bernoldi was born on 19 October 1978 in Curitiba (Brazil). After starting in karting, he completed his entire formative path in Europe, standing out in the junior formulae thanks to aggressive driving and good outright speed.
Between the late 1990s and 2000 he competed in British Formula 3 and Formula 3000, entering the Red Bull development programme. This link led to his Formula 1 debut in 2001 with Arrows, a team with which he contested two full seasons (2001-2002).
His World Championship experience was tied to an uncompetitive car, but he remains best known for the episode at the 2001 Monaco Grand Prix, when he managed to hold David Coulthard behind him for several laps on a circuit where overtaking is extremely difficult.
After leaving Formula 1, Bernoldi continued his career in Champ Car and later in Stock Car Brasil, a category in which he achieved notable results and long-term continuity. After ending his full-time racing career, he has remained involved in Brazilian motorsport as an executive and sporting consultant.
