Bahrain International Circuit

Historical information

This circuit has hosted the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix and other competitions since 2004.

Construction was rushed to enable it to be ready for the holding of the first Bahrain Grand Prix on April 4, 2004. Its construction cost in the range of $150 million designed by the firm of German architect Hermann Tilke who had previously designed the Sepang circuit in Malaysia, as well as the main contract for the work was given to the company WCT Engineering which had built the same circuit that is evidently the model for the Manama circuit.

In addition to the “Grand Prix track,” the facility can use three other shorter alternative configurations called the inner track, outer track and paddock track. An oval and a dragster strip are also available.
