Singapore GP

Circuit

Marina Bay Street Circuit

Historical information

The Marina Bay track underwent changes in the 2023 season with the aim of making it smoother, but it remains one of the most twisty tracks of the season. Its length has decreased to 4.940 kilometers, so the number of laps has been increased to 62. In the last sector, among those that once included turns 16 and 19, a 400-meter straight replaced them, so the number of turns was reduced from 23 to 19.

Also in 2023, work began on resurfacing the track, and in the following season the sections between turns 3 and 9, 10 and 12, and 14 and 17 were also resurfaced. The bitumen should be similar to that used on public roads generally open to city traffic, but with the new asphalt a smoother surface can be expected.

As with all city circuits, the slightest mistake in Singapore comes at a high price, as there are very few escape routes, and if you stray off the line a little, you risk crashing into the barriers. Therefore, the Safety Car is a common presence here, especially since it takes quite a while to remove a crashed car from the track.
