Red flag at Zandvoort as Verstappen crashes heavily into barriers
Time for reading: 1 minutes

A dramatic start to the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort saw Max Verstappen’s race come to an end after just two laps when he lost control of his Red Bull at the final corner.

The Dutchman put his tyres onto the kerb of the banked corner, which was still wet from the rain that had fallen shortly before the start, lost control of the car and crashed into the barriers.

The incident forced Race Control to immediately display the red flag, suspending the race to allow marshals to make the track safe and clear it.
