Formula 2 made its historic debut in Montreal, Canada, on the circuit named after Gilles Villeneuve. After Melbourne, the feeder category was originally supposed to race first in Sakhir and then in Jeddah, but due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, it was decided to take the young drivers of the future overseas: first to Miami and then to Canada.
We at Formula1.it had the opportunity and honour to interview, shortly after the American round, Ferrari Driver Academy member Dino Beganovic, who, racing in the colours of DAMS, finished the Miami Feature Race in second position after a crazy comeback in extremely complicated conditions, having started from eleventh place.

In the final part of our long conversation, which we divided into three other chapters, we then discussed his goals for 2026. The Swede has very clear targets he wants to achieve and, speaking precisely about this, he told us: “Being my second year in this category, obviously I want to fight for the top positions and be consistently up there. Looking back at my previous season, this is something I was missing, and that is why I want to focus more on it during the season. I will also try to be as far up front as possible, putting together good qualifying laps so I can place myself well on the starting grid. Scoring points in both the Sprint Race and the Feature is important; take Gabriel and Leo, for example, they were really consistent throughout the year and by doing that they won.”
Everyone has a favourite circuit, both fans and drivers. When we then asked him what his favourite track currently on the calendar was, the FDA driver told us: “I don't know, surely before my favourite track was Imola, I loved racing there with single-seaters. It was fantastic. Now I would say Spa or Silverstone. I also really like Australia because it combines the concept of a street circuit with that of permanent circuits, as well as the fact that the races there are very often a lot of fun. Among those on the current calendar, I would say these.”
Finally, we asked him a very specific question: “What do you expect from this 2026?”. At that point, Dino, without thinking twice, immediately said: “The goal before the season started was to be there fighting for the championship until the end. But we also need to improve our consistency so that we keep scoring new points every weekend.”
