While Formula 1 teams are engaged in the first day of testing in Bahrain, the FIA World Motor Sport Council met today, Feb. 26, for its first session of 2025. The meeting, chaired by President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, was attended by WMSC members via video conference.
Among the various topics discussed was the introduction of the two mandatory pit stops for the Monaco Grand Prix. The WMSC considered the proposal to implement a mandatory two-stop strategy in both dry and wet conditions, with the aim of improving the sporting spectacle of the event in the Principality.
At the end of the meeting, as reported by the FIA in an official statement, the decision was approved. As a result, each driver will have to make at least two pit stops during the race, using all three compounds available for that weekend.
