Williams released the video showing the first contact they had between Carlos Sainz Jr, the team and the FW46, the single-seater that ran in the Formula 1 championship during the 2024 season. It is precisely the test carried out by the Spaniard, now ex-Ferrari, in Abu Dhabi in the days immediately following the last race last year.
In the short film you can see an exchange of views between Carlos and the Grove-based team's mechanics. We know how much Sainz thought about which team to choose after his experience at Maranello. For the Madrid native it was complicated, but in the end he chose the team with so much history behind it, and as we can see from these images he is very motivated to make his contribution to bring it back to fight at the top of the classification.

You never forget your first experience behind the wheel of a new single-seater. For the driver it is a very important moment because he tries to focus all his attention on the qualities of the single-seater and immediately tries to identify the negative aspects to be eliminated.
It is interesting to note that around the end of the video the mechanics are eager to get feedback from the driver, they would like to already know what direction to take in terms of set-up, but Sainz remains very focused on the work at hand and states decisively: ‘Show me some data. I need to analyse the data and compare it with my driving sensations. I think that way I can help you do a better job.’
