Biography of F1 driver Latifi Nicholas

Nicholas Latifi (born on 29 June 1995 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a Canadian racing driver, known for his experience in Formula 1 with Williams between 2020 and 2022. Son of Canadian entrepreneur of Iranian origin Michael Latifi, Nicholas grew up competitively between North America and Europe, building his career in the international junior formulas.

After starting in karting, Latifi moved to single-seaters in 2012, competing in the Formula BMW Talent Cup and Italian Formula 3. In 2014 he raced in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with Tech 1 Racing, while between 2015 and 2016 he took part in the European Formula 3 Championship. The turning point came with his entry into the GP2 Series, later renamed Formula 2, where he raced consistently from 2016 to 2019.

In 2019, driving for DAMS, Latifi finished the Formula 2 season second overall, securing four victories and demonstrating good consistency of performance. This result allowed him to obtain the FIA superlicence and to enter the Williams programme as a race driver.

His Formula 1 debut came in 2020 with Williams, during a complex period for the historic British team. Latifi contested three full seasons (2020-2022), partnering first George Russell and then Alexander Albon. His best results came in 2021, with seventh place at the Hungarian Grand Prix - achieved in a chaotic race - and eighth place at the Belgian Grand Prix, an event contested over a reduced distance.

The 2022 season marked Latifi’s final year in Formula 1. Despite some unfortunate episodes and an uncompetitive car, the Canadian completed the championship, but at the end of the season Williams decided not to renew his contract, thus closing his experience in the Circus.
