Lance Stroll was born on 29 October 1998 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The son of entrepreneur Lawrence Stroll, he grows up in an environment strongly linked to motorsport and begins racing in karting at a very early age. From the first seasons he shows a natural talent for driving, combined with a structured training path oriented towards European competitions.
His karting career is solid and progressive. Between 2008 and 2013 Stroll wins numerous titles in North America and Europe, also establishing himself in CIK-FIA categories. In 2014 he moves to single-seaters, contesting the Italian Formula 4 championship with Prema Powerteam, which he dominates by winning the title with several victories and podiums, establishing himself as one of the best prospects of his generation.
In 2015 he tackles the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, which he wins on his debut, while in 2016 he makes the step up to the European Formula 3 Championship, again with Prema. The season is of the highest level: Stroll wins the title with 14 victories, becoming one of the youngest champions in the history of the category and definitively attracting the attention of Formula 1.
His debut in the top category comes in 2017 with Williams. In his first full Formula 1 season he achieves a major result at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where he finishes third, becoming one of the youngest drivers ever to step onto the podium. He remains with Williams also in 2018, continuing his growth path in a technically complex context.
In 2019 he follows the evolution of the Racing Point project, a team taken over by his father, and begins a new phase of his career. In 2020 comes one of his most significant results: he secures pole position at the Turkish Grand Prix and finishes on the podium in the race, demonstrating remarkable effectiveness in difficult track conditions. He closes the season with other notable finishes and a constant presence in the points.
From 2021 the team becomes Aston Martin and Stroll remains one of the pillars of the project. In an initial phase characterised by technical ups and downs, he contributes to the development of the car and collects important results, including podiums and valuable finishes in variable conditions. The year 2023 represents a particularly competitive season for the team, with Stroll delivering solid and regular performances in the upper part of the classification.
The 2024 and 2025 seasons see Stroll engaged in consolidating the Aston Martin project, in a context of strong technical and organisational investment. His role is confirmed as central above all in the continuity of development work and in long-term team management, in view of the new regulatory cycle.
From a technical point of view, Stroll is known for an effective driving style in low-grip conditions and for good sensitivity in the wet. He is considered a reliable driver, capable of finishing races and capitalising on opportunities when they arise, with a pragmatic and consistent approach.
A curiosity concerns his race number 18, chosen as a personal reference and retained throughout his Formula 1 career. Off the track Stroll maintains a reserved profile, with interests linked to sport and physical preparation, and direct involvement in the Aston Martin project, which represents a central part of his professional path.
In 2026 Lance Stroll will contest the Formula 1 season with Aston Martin, remaining one of the continuity points of the British team in the new regulatory era and in the sporting project launched by the ownership.
